Oncology Area Sales Manager
Job Description
The Oncology Area Sales Manager is responsible for managing and developing a group of Oncology Sales Representatives dedicated to meeting and exceeding sales objectives and to making Novartis the preferred partner in the Oncology community. This includes implementation of national and regional strategies for the promoted product line. Customers include office-based physicians, consultant pharmacists, medical directors, key medical and nursing personnel among others. Additional key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: team leadership; hiring, training and coaching; performance management; and efficient and effective account targeting and coverage. Strong analytical skills are required to effectively use personal and promotional resources in order to maximize sales and market share. The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing an area business plan to address product promotion priorities and valid customer requirements. The ASM will represent a consistent "CUSTOMER FIRST" approach to business activities & relationships while developing and demonstrating outstanding planning, organizational and leadership skills with an experienced sales force. The ASM will serve as a peer leader and resource to the "TEAM" at both an area and national level. A willingness to travel over a broad geography is required (approx. 60% travel).
Minimum requirements
Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of three years of pharmaceuticals sales management experience in the oncology, institutional, or specialty marketplace. Qualified candidates must have a demonstrated record of success in their ability to lead and inspire a sales team towards meeting and exceeding objectives, to communicate and implement tactical product strategies with a sophisticated audience, and to think strategically (i.e., "outside the box" and look at the "big picture") while providing creative and innovative solutions to market problems. Personal integrity and leadership abilities are essential. Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal), and presentation skills are required. Must be able to effectively multitask, problem-solve, and make decisions. Computer literacy (i.e., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is a must.
