Scientist/Sr Scientist Antibody Drug Conjugates
(Chemistry)

Description At Agensys, we're changing tomorrow by moving oncology forward. We ve developed a pipeline of novel therapeutic fully human monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) to treat solid tumors based on our own proprietary targets. We have discovered and validated a portfolio of clinically relevant targets in 14 different cancer types. Our pipeline includes therapeutic MAbs to multiple cancer indications that are at different stages of clinical and pre-clinical development.

Our parent company, Astellas Pharma US helps us shine. Together we are the bright spot in the pharmaceutical industry not just because of what we do, but in the way we do it. If you are looking for a company where you can change a life, make a dream come true, and light the way for a better tomorrow, this is the place for you.

Scientist/Sr. Scientist, ADC
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented scientist to help expand antibody drug conjugate (ADC) capabilities within the company. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment with other scientists and be responsible for the generation and characterization of ADCs directed to proprietary targets. The scientist must be able to progress all activities related to conjugation chemistry and analytic assay development in parallel. Experience in the design, preparation and subsequent analysis of small molecule compounds with improved biologic activities utilizing modern medicinal chemistry methods would be beneficial. Responsibilities will include:

o Perform small scale conjugation of tumor specific human monoclonal antibodies with small molecule cytotoxic drugs

o Optimize small and medium scale conjugation reactions for lead MAb candidates and perform analytical characterization

o Develop manufacturing friendly robust conjugation process for lead MAb(s) that is suitable for transfer to CMO

o Develop all analytic assays required for evaluating ADCs including SEC, HIC, reverse phase HPLC, denaturing and native gel electrophoresis for ADC characterization

o Participate on team(s) to oversee activities relating to the transfer of conjugation processes to CMO

o Experience with synthetic chemistry capabilities and/or experience with the production and optimization of compounds with antitumor activity is highly desirable

Position Requirements The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field and 5+ years of industrial experience

The candidate must have hands-on experience performing antibody conjugations and the development of appropriate analytical assays for their characterization

Familiarity with peptide synthesis and heterocyclic compound chemistry is highly desirable

Extensive experience with the implementation of advanced analytical methods and biophysical characterization tools including HPLC, mass spectrometry and NMR

The successful candidate will possess experience managing research associates and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to operate both independently and in a team environment are necessary.
